An announcement :(
Hi,

I joined this community to let you all know: amidala_thrace, your mod, sadly passed away eight days ago, due to complications arising from the skin cancer that some of you may have known she'd been fighting for a while.

There's a memorial post for her over here, if you wish to visit it. It links many articles about Liz and her life that have been put up in the last week or so, and a few from before that.

All her friends and family miss her greatly, and I'm sure the people here will as well. I'm sorry to be so late in delivering the news to you guys.

I have a related request: would anyone here possibly be interested in moderating this community to keep it going? Liz's mom gave me permission to sort out all of that stuff to keep things alive in her memory, and I don't really know SFU at all so I wouldn't feel right taking it over myself. I'm trying to find and arrange new maintainers for the communities she ran alone, beyond her own fanfiction journals. If you are interested in doing this, if you could email me at trialia@gmail.com I would really appreciate that.

Thanks.

I didn't know her, but after reading about her I must say that the world has lost an incredibly inspiring person. I have a rare genetic disease and wish I had even a quarter of her fighting spirit.

Huh! Weird as this may sound, looking at your profile, you have the same condition I do. What type is yours? Mine's type 3.

Liz truly was inspiring. I always wished I had as much spirit as she did, though she was a wonderful support to me, especially during the years I was fighting to get a diagnosis at all.

what a coincidence! I have type 3 as well! I believe it's called hypermobility type now. They keep changing names and criteria, so sorry to hear that you struggled with getting the diagnose, it's an exhausting fight :(

Love the quotes on your profile!

It's still referred to as both, as far as I can tell. But I'd been trying to find out what was wrong with me for nearly 20 years by the time I actually found a doctor willing to listen and think and refer me to a hypermobility specialist. And I'm only 25, like Liz was.

Thanks! Mind if I add you, since we also have fandoms in common?
